The Roundhouse Setting

There is a growing evidence base that being in green spaces has a positive impact upon our mental health and at Bristol Family Therapy Collective we pay attention to the idea that this can be extended to where we undertake therapy.

We have recently started a collaboration with St Werburghs City Farm that includes using their wonderful, and rustic Roundhouse at Boiling Wells for therapy. We can utilise this space in a multitude of ways: to undertake therapy in a quiet and calm environment with views and an atmosphere that is both unique and often calming; we can venture just outside and have therapy beside the Roundhouse either by a fire pit, or in a more secluded corner on another side. We have also undertaken therapy with short walks at the start of, or during sessions, that enable different conversations to emerge, using what nature offers to contribute to conversations.

We believe that Nature connection can hold importance to people from all different backgrounds and cultures, although this offer can also be as simple as that St Werburgh's is a convenient place for you to access!

We ask that those interested in attending the Roundhouse at Boiling Wells hold in mind that of course the site is seasonal and at times unpredictable. In the winter there can be limitations to what is available/safe outdoors and whilst the Roundhouse is a safe and dry space it will heated by a log burner that is not as easily managed as with a thermostat, so we would advise that appropriate clothing/footwear will be necessary to ensure all are comfortable.

Regarding accessibility Boiling Wells is a sloping woodland site and the terrain can be challenging, especially if the ground is wet after heavy rainfall and again appropriate footwear is recommended at these times.

We have limited spaces for sessions at The Roundhouse, but please do let us know if you would prefer this site to a more classic indoor therapy space.
